2011 NY Eve: It's almost 2012

New years eve this year falls on a Saturday. Honestly, 5 years ago I would have been completely beyond excited planning out trips to Mexico, San Francisco, the hottest nightclub or mansion party. Nowadays, I'm more settled and a family gal. I plan on having over a few friends over, making delicious appetizers, toasting on some delicious champagne at midnight and having some of Myras cake pops.

That's what I call a perfect new years eve.

So, I'm going to blog on something not mark because most of you probably already did your Christmas shopping and the last thing you want to hear is more sales, reviews, etc. From me about mark. Ha!!! :)

Here's about Christmas: I really hate how many of them are cut, put in homes for 5-20 days and then thrown away on 12-26th. First, they cost lots. Usually $19-$180 depending on size and type. So why not keep it up longer?

My husband and I bought a 4 1/2 footer since our space is limited to setting it on top of our counter since we have no floor space. The tree we chose cost $55 and change after a $4 stand, tax and $5 tip to the tree handler.

Our little tree was purchased on 12/16. If we were to throw it out on 12/26 we'd only have it up for 10 days. Personally, this is a pet peeve of mine: to throw a perfectly good tree out too soon. I like to throw the tree out on Jan 2nd (7 days later). Why? I like having a tree on new years eve to bring ambience to the room . Make it feel like it's still the holidays, take pics, feel festive and to extend the holiday season for as long as possible. Plus, my $55 tree gets 17 days of admiration by the lookie-looks, not just 10 sour days.

Anyhow: Check out the before and after pics below. My hubby decorated the tree with about 20 ornaments, not bad. Then I went back, added more ornaments, fairy tree topper and tree skirt. I Love Christmas trees and how they can brighten up a room during this holiday season.

MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE: I wore mark. no place to run long wear at 6:45 AM to work, wore it all day at work until 4:30 PM, once I got home I changed and left my for a 7:00 PM 90 minute Bikram Yoga session. Normally I remove all my make-up to that class because the rooms 115• degrees F and high humidity. You sweat so much you will sweat from the first minute of stretching. Anyhow, by the end of a work out your hair is drenched as if you walked in rain or poured a water bottle all over you.
The no place to run long wear was completely in place like it was at 6:30AM considering it was 8:40 PM.

I have never has this experience with any liner before, any make up I wear to Bikram always runs all over.

Review on get a tint with shimmer

HI used to wear foundation on a daily basis, but found it a bit heavy on a daily basis.  Plus, I would have to apply face lotion on my face first, let it dry and then apply the foundation.

I discovered mark get a tint about two years ago and began using it instead.  Its lighter than foundation, has spf 15 and oil free moisturizer with it.  

Then in May I was given the new get a tint with shimmer, also spf 15, oil free.  I absolutely love it.

Lemon sugar product review

I absolutely love, love, love the texture of the lemon sugar body butter.

Min-A-Real Review

Get real - and really radiant!

I have to admit I wasn’t too impressed with the Min-a-real sample I received from mark.  Not that it was horrible, but it didn’t meet my expectations.  The sample was a bit dry, cakey and heavy.    So, I held off on purchasing the product. 

On my NYC trip make-up artist (mark celebrity make-up artist) Jamie Greenberg actually did a full face of make up on someone and I watched carefully how she used the foundation Min-a-real formula.  Plus it made the persons face look luminous and healthy.  So, I decided to order it last week.   I've been using it for the past 4 days and absolutely love the way it goes on my skin.   I’ve been given compliments even.  So you can’t beat that.    Plus, its lots smoother and lighter feeling than the sample I was given.

OH and guess what, you don’t have to have all kinds of loose powder containers to carry in your purse, that have to be mixed with 2-3 diff. brushes, then make up on clothes, make up bag, car, desk, like some mineral brands have.  This is cream and it turns powder when it dries on your skin.  So, no mineral mess all over your face & other places

PLUS, you can also apply it with the sponge provided on your drive to work w/o worrying about it going all over your shirt and car.   (yes, we know u do this ladies)

How to apply:

1.      Wash and moisturize face.    This crucial to do to help your make up go on fresh and last longer

2.      Use primer all over face and neck  (mark primed to perfection)

3.      Apply concealer to conceal under eye circles and imperfections

4.      With a foundation brush apply a light coat of min-a-real all over face and part of neck

5.      Apply a second layer on areas that need just a little more foundation

6.      Let it dry for 20-30 seconds to set to allow the min-a-real to go from cream to powder

7.      Apply/ dust on your favorite powder on your Tzone to prevent future oiliness and to make it a bit more matte.

Note: 0.4 oz. net wt on Min-a-real compact is the same weight on the Powder buff powder compact.  However, the Min-a-real looks smaller due to the diff. packaging and the fact that it’s a cream and not a pressed powder formula.

·         A small amount will go a long way.  Four days of usage and I can barely see a dent on my min-a-real compact.   I’ll provide another follow up blog re: min-a-real in a month. 

·         Plus, I’m saving on the amount of powder (powder buff) I’m having to use that’s a total plus!! 

·         The price is more expensive than just a regular powder, but its still about half price of other mineral foundation on the market

 *** while I was on my trip to NY I forgot my powder buff powder and the only thing I had to rely on was the mark get a tint for coverage.  Its not full coverage, but it worked perfectly.  It didnt make my face oily or anything.  Plus I have no break out due to it either, despite the fact that I had no powder for my tzone.
